We live in the “natural world.” Our lives and what we do are as much a part of nature as a rock, a river, or a star in space. But we are controlled by two “natures:” the natural world, governed by what are called physical laws; and human nature.

  The good news is an understanding of those laws can help us better manage our world, our lives and our businesses.

I came up from the trenches: the workfloor. My outlook is operational; my philosophy formed from experience. My life’s work is to make the complicated simple, and help:

2. •become effective, not merely efficient;
   

3. •Help new managers trained only by sink or swim,
   

4. •and seasoned ones, who want to know the why, not just the what.
